4.6 Practical Prompt Exercises

Good prompting is a skill you build by practising. The best results come from combining what you have learned: be clear and specific, structure the request, assign a useful role, and ask for step-by-step reasoning when the task is complex. Then look at the answer, see what is missing, and refine the prompt — this is called iteration.

promptAI
Refining a prompt step by step turns a weak answer into a strong one.

For example, a small business owner in Hawassa might start with "Write an ad for my shop," get a generic result, then improve it to: "Act as a marketing expert. Write a 2-line Facebook ad in Amharic for my fresh-juice shop in Hawassa, friendly tone, ending with our phone number." The second prompt produces something far more usable.

Scenario

Your first prompt gave an answer that was close but too long and too formal. What is the best next step?
