4.4 Role-Based Prompting

Role-based prompting means telling the model to act as a particular person or expert — for example, "Act as a patient maths tutor" or "You are a professional Amharic translator." Giving the model a role shapes the tone, vocabulary, and level of detail in its answer, because it tries to respond the way that role would.

For instance, a health worker in a rural clinic could write: "Act as a public health nurse explaining to a worried mother, in simple Amharic, why her child needs vaccination." The role pushes the model toward a caring, plain-language explanation instead of a technical one.
