In this lesson you will learn how to ask "how much is it?", understand prices with 块 (kuài, the spoken word for the money unit), and say "I want to buy this". These words help you shop at the market and pay in birr.

阿贝贝去市场。他想买咖啡。他问:“这个多少钱?” 卖咖啡的人说:“二十块。” 阿贝贝说:“太贵了。十五块好吗?” 那个人说:“好。” 阿贝贝很高兴,他买咖啡。萨拉也来买英吉拉。她付钱,说谢谢。

To say something is too expensive, use 太 (tài) … 了 (le): 太贵了 (tài guì le) = "too expensive". 贵 (guì) = expensive, and the opposite 便宜 (piányi) = cheap. At a market you can bargain politely!
