Greetings & introductions

In this lesson you will learn simple Mandarin Chinese greetings. You will say hello, tell your name, and ask how someone is. The small letters under each word (pinyin) show you how to say it.

你好

nǐ hǎo

ሰላም

早上好

zǎoshang hǎo

እንደምን አደራችሁ (ጥዋት)

我叫阿尔玛兹。

wǒ jiào Ā'ěrmǎzī

ስሜ አልማዝ ነው።

你好吗?

nǐ hǎo ma?

ደህና ነህ? (እንዴት ነህ?)

slow

谢谢

xièxie

አመሰግናለሁ

slow

大卫在亚的斯亚贝巴的市场遇到萨拉。他说:"你好,萨拉!你好吗?"萨拉笑着说:"我很好,谢谢!我叫萨拉。"他们一起喝咖啡。然后大卫说:"再见,萨拉!"

Add "吗" (ma) to the end of a sentence to make it a yes/no question: "你好" (hello) becomes "你好吗?" (are you well?). To answer, say "我很好" (wǒ hěn hǎo = I am very well).
