1.14 The Verb 'to have' (Avoir)

After être, the most important French verb is 'avoir' (to have). It's irregular: j'ai (I have), tu as (you have, informal), il/elle a (he/she has), nous avons (we have), vous avez (you have, formal/plural), ils/elles ont (they have). You already used it for age: 'j'ai 24 ans'.
