1.16 Definite Articles (le, la, l', les)

English has one word for 'the'; French has four 'definite articles': le before a masculine noun (le livre), la before a feminine noun (la table), l' before a noun starting with a vowel or silent h (l'ami, l'heure), and les before any plural (les livres).
