8. A simple end-to-end content workflow
Most beginners use AI tools randomly — they open a tool, type something, get a result, open another tool, type something else. Each session starts from scratch, nothing is connected, and the final outputs feel mismatched and inconsistent.
A content workflow changes this. A workflow is a pre-agreed sequence of steps that turns a business goal into published content. It is repeatable, which means the second campaign is faster than the first, the third is faster still. It is connected, meaning the output of each step feeds directly into the next. And it is reviewable, meaning you can look back and see exactly where quality was gained or lost.
Abebe runs a small digital marketing agency in Addis Ababa. Before he built a workflow, each client campaign took three to four days of chaotic, disorganised effort. After adopting a structured workflow — using the same sequence of AI tools in the same order every time — the same campaign now takes one day, and the quality is higher and more consistent.
In this lesson, you will build your own version of that workflow for a hypothetical campaign: launching a new injera flour brand called "Mulu" (ሙሉ) targeting young families in Addis Ababa who shop online and pay with TeleBirr.
STAGE 1 — WRITE A CLEAR BRIEF (10 minutes)
The brief is the single document that governs everything that follows. A poor brief produces poor AI output, no matter how good the tool is. Your brief should answer six questions:
1. What is the product or service? (Mulu injera flour — stone-ground, no additives, 2 kg pack)
2. Who is the target audience? (Urban families in Addis Ababa aged 25–40 who cook at home and value health)
3. What is the key message? ("Mulu flour makes the whitest, most tender injera — just like your grandmother's")
4. What content formats are needed? (Instagram image post × 3, Instagram caption × 3, 30-second audio ad for radio/social, one 15-second video reel)
5. What is the tone? (Warm, family-oriented, nostalgic but modern)
6. What action should the audience take? (Visit the link in bio, pay with TeleBirr, free delivery over 500 birr)
Write this brief in a simple text document before touching any AI tool. Pin it open in a second window so you can refer to it throughout the workflow.

STAGE 2 — AI-ASSISTED RESEARCH (15 minutes)
Use ChatGPT or Claude to research before generating. Two prompts that work:
Prompt A (audience insights): "I am launching a premium injera flour brand called Mulu in Addis Ababa targeting health-conscious families aged 25–40. List 5 emotional reasons this audience buys premium flour rather than market flour, and 3 objections they might have about price."
Prompt B (competitor angles): "What are 5 unique selling points a premium stone-ground injera flour brand could use that mass-market competitors cannot claim? Focus on health, tradition, and texture."
Save the AI's answers in your brief document. These insights will feed directly into your copy prompts in Stage 3.
STAGE 3 — GENERATE ALL ASSETS (45–60 minutes)
Now you generate all the content pieces in a single focused session. Work in this order — copy first, images second, audio third, video last — because each later format benefits from having the copy decided first.
STEP 3a — MARKETING COPY (ChatGPT or Claude, 15 minutes)
Prompt: "Using the following brief [paste your brief] and these audience insights [paste Stage 2 outputs], write three Instagram captions for Mulu injera flour. Each caption: warm, nostalgic tone; Amharic language; mention TeleBirr payment and free delivery above 500 birr; max 3 sentences; end with 2–3 relevant emojis. Label them Option 1, 2, 3."
Save all three options without immediately choosing — you will compare them in Stage 4.
STEP 3b — IMAGES (Midjourney, DALL-E, or Adobe Firefly, 20 minutes)
Using caption Option 1 as your concept, write three image prompts. Each should:
• Describe a warm Ethiopian kitchen or dining scene
• Feature injera being prepared or served
• Specify "soft morning light, photorealistic, ultra-detailed"
• Add negative prompts: "—no Western food, no fast food, no cartoons"
Run each prompt once. Save all generated images with clear names (mulu-img-1.jpg, mulu-img-2.jpg, mulu-img-3.jpg).
STEP 3c — AUDIO AD (ElevenLabs + Suno or Mubert, 15 minutes)
First, write the 30-second script using the copy from Step 3a. Then:
1. Use ElevenLabs to convert the script to speech. Choose a warm, female Ethiopian-accented voice if available; otherwise choose a warm neutral voice.
2. Use Suno or Mubert to generate a 30-second background track: prompt "warm, gentle traditional Ethiopian instrumental, kitchen ambiance, 80 BPM, no lyrics".
3. In a free editor (Audacity or CapCut mobile), layer the voiceover on top of the background music at 30% volume.
STEP 3d — VIDEO REEL (CapCut or Canva Video, 10 minutes)
Use one of your generated images as the background. Add:
• Text overlay: your best caption (from 3a) broken into 3 short lines
• The audio track from Step 3c as background
• A simple zoom-in animation on the image
• A final frame: "Pay with TeleBirr • Free delivery 500+ Birr • @MuluFlour"
You now have a complete set of raw assets: 3 captions, 3 images, 1 audio ad, 1 video reel. All generated in under one hour.
STAGE 4 — HUMAN REVIEW (20 minutes)
This is the most important stage. Every asset you generated is a draft. Now you apply human judgment — your taste, your knowledge of the brand and the audience, and your professional standards.
Work through a structured review checklist for EACH asset:
✓ FACTUAL CHECK: Are the product name, price, delivery terms, and payment method (TeleBirr) all correct? Never skip this — AI can confidently generate wrong information.
✓ BRAND CHECK: Does the tone match the brief? Is it warm, nostalgic, and family-oriented as specified?
✓ AUDIENCE CHECK: Would a young family in Addis Ababa recognise themselves in this content? Is it culturally appropriate?
✓ LEGAL CHECK: Does the ad make any promises the brand cannot keep? Are there any claims that need substantiation?
✓ FORMAT CHECK: Is each asset the right size and length for its platform? (Instagram images: 1:1 or 4:5 ratio. Reels: 9:16 vertical. Audio ad: exactly 30 seconds.)
For every problem you find, decide: fix it directly (for small edits), or re-prompt the AI (for larger structural problems). Most review corrections will be direct text edits — changing a word, correcting a price, adjusting punctuation.

STAGE 5 — ASSEMBLE THE FINAL PACK (15 minutes)
Once all assets pass review, assemble them into a client-ready "content pack":
1. Create a single folder: "Mulu-Campaign-[Date]"
2. Subfolders: /captions (the three final .txt files), /images (the three final .jpg files), /audio (the final .mp3), /video (the final .mp4)
3. In the root folder, place a one-page document called "campaign-notes.txt" listing: the brief summary, which AI tools were used for each asset, and any special instructions for the social media poster (e.g., "Post image 2 on Wednesday, use caption 3 for maximum engagement").
This organised pack means anyone on your team — or any client — can pick it up and publish without confusion.
Scenario
Sara is a freelance content creator in Addis Ababa. She has just finished Stage 3 (generating all assets) for a TeleBirr-payment campaign for a local honey brand. During Stage 4 review, she discovers that one Instagram caption says the honey is imported from New Zealand — which is completely wrong; it is local Ethiopian honey from Wello. What is the correct action?
STAGE 6 — PUBLISH AND MEASURE (ongoing)
Publishing is not the end of the workflow — it is the beginning of the feedback loop that makes your next campaign better.
When you publish, record:
• Exact date and time of each post
• Which caption and image were paired together
• Which platform (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
• Starting engagement metrics (followers, previous post averages)
After 48–72 hours, check:
• Engagement rate (likes + comments + shares ÷ reach × 100)
• Click-through rate if you included a link
• TeleBirr payment conversions if tracking is set up
• Comments mentioning specific elements (do people comment on the image? The price? The TeleBirr offer?)
Feed this data back into your next brief. If Image 2 performed 40% better than Image 1, your next campaign's image prompts should describe more of what made Image 2 work. If the TeleBirr mention in Caption 3 generated the most DMs, every future campaign should lead with the payment convenience message.
Over time, your workflow improves not just in speed but in intelligence — because each campaign teaches you exactly which prompts produce which real-world results for your specific audience.
This is the professional AI content creator's edge: not just using AI tools faster, but building a continuously-improving, data-informed creative process.
