Sara é nova na cidade e quer ir ao mercado. Ela para na esquina e pergunta a um homem: "Com licença, como eu chego ao mercado?" O homem sorri e responde: "É fácil. Siga em frente nesta rua, depois vire à esquerda na segunda rua. O mercado fica ao lado de um café grande, em frente à farmácia." Sara agradece: "Muito obrigada!" Ela segue em frente, vira à esquerda e logo encontra o mercado. Lá ela compra injera e toma uma boa buna antes de voltar para casa.

Two handy openers: "Com licença" (excuse me) is the polite way to start a question to a stranger, and "Onde fica...?" literally asks "Where is... located?" Remember à direita = to the right, à esquerda = to the left — the small word "à" carries the "to the" meaning.
